Are all of your hats one of a kind?
Yes. Each hat is individually hand-knit using hand-dyed merino wool and thoughtfully chosen color combinations. Because of the nature of hand-dyed yarn and the way I pair colors, no two hats are exactly alike.
What is the difference between the hat styles?
Each pattern has its own personality and fit. Some styles have a taller, more relaxed shape, while others sit closer to the head. Individual product descriptions include notes about fit and design.
What is merino wool?
Merino wool is known for being exceptionally soft, warm, and breathable. I use hand-dyed merino wool because it feels wonderful to wear and creates beautiful depth of color.
How do I care for my hat?
Remove the pompom (if applicable) before gently hand washing your hat in cool water. Lay it flat to dry. Detailed care instructions are included with every hat.
Why does the leather tag belong over my left eyebrow? 😊
Each hat is designed so the leather tag is worn just above the left eyebrow. That places the shaping and decreases where they were intended to be—at the back of the hat.
Do you make custom hats?
Because every hat is individually hand-knit, I generally focus on creating one-of-a-kind pieces rather than custom orders. That being said, I’ve done plenty of custom orders and at times I am able to accommodate special requests, so feel free to reach out.
Do you ship to Canada?
At this time, checkout is available for U.S. orders from the website, but, if you're interested in having a hat shipped to Canada, please contact me and I'll be happy to discuss options.
Where are your hats made?
Every KSW Knits hat is individually hand-knit by me. Vermont is home so most likely it's made there, but to be completely honest, I knit wherever I happen to be! Whether I'm at home, at our summer lake cottage, or traveling, my knitting is always along for the journey. Wherever it's created, each hat is made one at a time with care.
How do you choose your colors?
Color is one of my favorite parts of the creative process. I work with beautiful hand-dyed merino wool and enjoy pairing colors in ways that feel timeless, unexpected, and distinctly Vermont. Every hat begins with a pattern I love, but it's the color combinations that make each one uniquely its own.
